Why We Always Say Yes to an Engagement Session

An engagement session is the best hour you can spend before your wedding day, and it has very little to do with the photos themselves.

It is really a rehearsal

By the end of the session you have learned what it feels like to be photographed together, and we have learned how you two actually are with each other — who makes who laugh, who needs a minute, what you do with your hands. On the wedding day, none of that has to be figured out.

Autumn in the valley is hard to beat

We shoot engagement sessions year-round, but the Hudson Valley in October does a lot of the work for us — low light through bare trees, old fields, long golden afternoons.

How to plan yours

Pick somewhere that means something to you, wear what you would actually wear, and give it about ninety minutes near sunset.
